Great guides, kind people all throughout. They were very caring from start to finish. Food was good and planning was precise. We never needed anything extra. Rustan and his crew are amazing. Landscapes are completely worth viewing

Overall great tour. For vegetarians: The home stays seem to be flexible to accommodate, however, I brought my own dehydrated food for dinners not knowing what to expect and thinking this would be easiest for all involved. I asked my driver in Dushanbe before departing to advise hosts ahead of time not to prepare dinner for me and the reason. Each and every day I explained in a different way (English and Russian via google translate) please no dinner for me. He didn't and the host prepared a lovely meal that I couldn't eat making for some awkward exchanges. The driver also wasn't good at accommodating lunch stops to non meat. I know this might not be possible sometimes, one can always ask. Often I didn't eat lunch only to find out later the rest stop was happy to cook an egg or fried potatoes as we were departing. The driver also asked (and received from me) 700 Kyrgz com for fuel entering Kyrgyzstan. The company really should provide this. The driver was pleasant, a safe driver, and always happy to stop for photos or toilet. More understanding on dietary challenges however is recommended so not to waste food, or the hosts time preparing it. Hikes were great, it should be noted trails are not always clear requiring some guesswork. The last hike to view Lenin Peak - shorter one was too dangerous for us; unstable earth, and narrow on a cliff's side. I recommend doing the longer travelers walk on this day. Be prepared for a lot of driving, and have fun!

I''ve had a wonderful experience with Visit Alay. The tour organisation seems genuine (in supporting local families etc. ) and I have felt safe the whole time during my trip. I have been on the ''Best of alay mountians 8-day trek in August and you will see some breathtaking nature. The trek is manageable but don''t expect it to be too easy, because of the altitude it''s way more demanding physically. The tour guide Almanbet and his assistent Karrat are very social and made sure we had the best time. The horsemen were also lovely. I unfortunately got hit with some stomach problems during the trek and had a fever 1 night. I felt very supported during my sickness and because of the support I was able to finish my trek. The food at the yurt families was good and the tour guide also always brought some food and water for during the trek. To enjoy your trek to the fullest I would advise to drink plenty of water/tea (at least 4 liters) to prevent altitude sickness. I only experienced very slight altitude sickness during the first day in Sary mogul, I took diamox the first 3 days and drink 5 liters every day almost and have not experienced any more altitude sickness symptoms. I would recommend everyone to go on this trek who loves mountians and wants to experience a little bit of the nomadic lifestyle. Don't expect too much luxury because you will ofcourse stay in remote areas and with locals. But everyone feels very welcoming and you will have the most wonderful moments with people from this country. The sleeping bag I rented was also very good quality and clean, so If you want too leave some room in your backpack I would recommend renting one!

I had an awesome trip along the Pamir Highway with our driver Mendibay. After a short & friendly welcome at the Visit Alay office, we started on the epic roadtrip towards the mountains. I felt this trip was a great mixture of driving and opportunities for cool hiking. When available, our driver offered us different alternatives for the best location & place to stay overnight which I appreciated a lot. From scenic yurt camps to nice basic hotel in Khorog, the accomodations were overall basic, but good & better than I had expected, with usually double rooms available. The food variety unsurprisingly is pretty limited on this trip, so it does help to bring some snacks from home. Booking as a solo traveller, you are of course dependent on your luck to land in a group that gets along well - you spend a lot of time in the Jeep and need to agree on stops, hikes etc. In my case this worked out very well though and we had a great trip. Overall, definitely recommended and a very economical way to see a spectacular, less visited region.

A Truly Special Guide for the Pamir Highway, Travelling the Pamir Highway from Osh to Dushanbe with Kokon (through Visit Alay) was the highlight of our trip ( we were a group of 4). He’s a safe driver, speaks excellent English, and knows the entire country inside out—but what stood out most was his kindness, honesty, and warm spirit. Kokon made us feel completely at ease, even in the most remote places and brought the journey to life with his stories and humour. If you’re heading to the Pamirs, ask for Kokon. You won’t regret it, and don't forget to tip your guide! :)
