Fantastic experience, great driver, everything as planned

Amazing trip! Scenery was out of this world and the variety of accommodation and places to see was just exceptional. Abu, our driver, he was such a great guy and handled the difficult roads with ease. Highly recommend doing this trip! The optional hikes are some of the best

Amazing trip and incredible experience! Driver Alik was fun and drove us safely through the whole journey even the road conditions were pretty hard. We were able to adapt the trip to our wishes (waking up hours, some extra hiking...). After the hikes he always tried to found a shop for us where we could finally grab some beer :) Totally recommend!

Our Pamir Highway tour was truly amazing from start to finish. Everything went smoothly—not even a flat tires. It was a well-planned route that let us fully enjoy the breathtaking landscapes. A special thanks to our driver, Shodi, who was kind, professional, and spoke decent English. He even invited us into his home for tea, which was such a warm and memorable moment. I was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to find vegetarian food along the way—definitely easier than I expected! One of my favorite parts was visiting a Kyrgyz family in their yurts, getting to do a yak ride, and experiencing a bit of their traditional lifestyle. We also received a very detailed booklet after booking, which helped us prepare and know what to expect. That made a big difference. Overall, I’d highly recommend this tour to anyone looking to explore the Pamirs. It was one of the most unique and enriching travel experiences I’ve had!

This is truly an amazing trip, with a combination of culture, history and landscapes that will take your breath away. == Positives == - Unbelievable scenery that is quite unique to that part of the world. - Access to a part of the world very rarely seen by outsiders. - Drivers were all fantastic with our driver (Sash!) really being a delight to travel with. He was exceptionally professional, took great pride in keeping his car comfortable and clean, and was just overall a terrific guy. He took especially good care of us when we were sick. - Visit Alay were very professional and were quick to respond via WhatsApp when we had some issues on the trip. One of us left a bag behind and they helped organise to deliver it to the accommodation which was much appreciated. - Fellow travellers: We were quite a large group with three separate cars running in convoy. Apart from people who were travelling together none of us had met before, however all members were great to travel with. Whilst tours / group travel is something that might put some people off booking this trip, be aware that the type of traveller booking this trip might just turn out to be very similar to you! == Negatives == - Food is very bland, with basic lunches consisting of a hunk of old bread, cheese and salami. This is hard due to the remoteness but I do feel some of the accommodations could have managed some rice or lentils to provide a bit more variety. - Long days in the car (although I never found them boring). - Hygiene: Very basic accommodation and sanitation means that there is a reasonable chance you get sick. - Lack of services: Whilst I appreciate the remoteness (I have spent months trekking in Nepal) the staff in some of the hotels were just not concerned about things like the toilet bucket overflowing and had to be asked several times (and eventually demanded) to empty it. I think this is more due to the area being infrequently visited by relatively small numbers of travellers and it will take time to meet expectations. == In Summary == Overall this is something that experienced travellers who have an interest in the area should definitely book. I can not recommend it enough and even though I obviously mentioned some negatives, I have done so only to provide some balance in this review. If I could go back in time and have to book with this knowledge it wouldn't even cause me to hesitate! I want to thank our drivers and Visit Alay for making this trip a possibility and for their professionalism and care during the trip. If you're considering this, don't hesitate and book it, you won't regret it. TIP: Bring plenty of water (> 15L per person), especially in summer as water availability is limited on the road.

A Truly Special Guide for the Pamir Highway, Travelling the Pamir Highway from Osh to Dushanbe with Kokon (through Visit Alay) was the highlight of our trip ( we were a group of 4). He’s a safe driver, speaks excellent English, and knows the entire country inside out—but what stood out most was his kindness, honesty, and warm spirit. Kokon made us feel completely at ease, even in the most remote places and brought the journey to life with his stories and humour. If you’re heading to the Pamirs, ask for Kokon. You won’t regret it, and don't forget to tip your guide! :)
